From information found for BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, around 91,000 people listen to this radio station, who listen to an average of 10 hours (9.9 hours) a week. The quantity of the weekly audience has increased and decreased since information for the weekly audience was first taken in June 1999, which stood at 115,000 listeners, all of which were adults (15+). However, that number of adults has recently dropped to the lowest amount of audience recorded, 91,000. The reason for this drop in numbers could be down to adults working more or choosing to listen to music over the radio, since adults range from teenagers 15 and above, which can contribute to the lack of audience for a middle class radio show, thanks to the access younger people have for music streaming.
The market share increased when the weekly audience would rise, for example, there was a weekly audience of 131,000 in December 2001 which increased the market share to 13.0%. however, the market share has decreased recently showing the lack of people listening, who would probably choose Radio 1 over Radio Cambridgeshire. From the Survey area population, it can show that even though the population increases, the figures of the listeners aren't increasing, so it could show that the major population in the survey area are young adults with families, rather than middle aged and middle class, who are the target audience for this Radio station.
