P2

Show Presented: Thordis at Drive-time
Presenter's name: Thordis Fridriksson
  • Thordis is described as BBC Radio Norfolk's self-described "half Icelandic maiden, half Norfolk dumpling." She's from Sprowston and her name roughly translates as "Thunder Fairy," which many listeners know her as!
She has presented shows on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire and BBC Norfolk. She has a bubbly personality and aims to make people happy whilst listening to the radio, which would match the fairy description, whilst she seems down to earth with knowledge of what she is talking about, most likely meeting the description of a Norfolk dumpling since she seems local rather than from a large city.
  • She is a replacement for someone in the content above, but from this, I can decipher that the station looks for a persona that attracts people of the same age and make them feel comfortable. an attribute that is looked for on all radio stations.
Content)
Presenter: The presenter is a small section of the radio show in this specific section, since they introduce the news and the news feature alongside music. They are a friendly face of the radio and they interact with the public . They also interact with the others in the show, as if they were the audience, such as when the weather man slipped up on his report.

Pre-recorded: The pre-recorded material makes the show smoother, since the audio would have been taken earlier and they can re-record it if they needed to. It means that it is easier for the guest to appear on the show as they can take the interview prior to the live broadcast of the show. This would mean celebrities can be interviewed or officials can express their opinion.

News/weather/travel: The public would like to hear the most updated news updates whilst on the road or at work, meaning that they can plan ahead if the travel news concerns them. This can also be done with the weather. events can be planned prior.

Call ins: the public can interact with live guests and presenter meaning it is more fun and pleasant to listen to

D )Target Audience:

The content broadcast on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire aims to reach an older audience who are commonly involved in world events and want to be notified of major events throughout the nation whilst working, making sure they are alert and in contact with what is currently happening. The radio station is also supposed to entertain the audience so they make sure there is a bright personality to present the show, who also isn't just used for the personality but for a knowledge in all subjects addressed, so they can deliver an educated opinion whilst keeping the show lighthearted. The music will also cater to the older target audience, though the content in the video above doesn't show the exact songs, they are dated compared to the top charts music played for the younger audiences on Kiss or  BBC Radio 1. The majority of the target audience would also be very capable of driving and their jobs may call for long journeys, whether that is by car or public transport, they would need to stay updated on travel and weather across the region. This can also help the target audience plan ahead if they get a hint at the rest of the day's or week's weather or traffic. The use of calls ins also allows the community to voice opinions
